We have been a market leader in sports law for a number of years. Our sports lawyers are heavily involved in all facets of sport – including acting as national and local Code of Conduct Commissioners for New Zealand Cricket, Canterbury Cricket and New Zealand Golf.

  • Chairing the Canterbury Cricket Trust and overseeing the Trust's development of Hagley Oval into a world class international cricket venue and sport centre for amateur cricketers. This included gaining of all consents and approvals undertaking and overseeing building and construction contracts, and raising $20m for the entire development.

  • Acting for a number of golf clubs and golf resorts (and associated residential and commercial developments) throughout Canterbury.

  • Providing legal representation and governance advice for some of New Zealand’s largest sporting organisations including cricket, golf, netball and racing.

  • National and Local Code of Conduct Commissioners for New Zealand Cricket and Golf.

  • Advising athletes of various disciplines on sporting contracts and related matters across various sports.

  • Acting for a young professional athlete negotiating the terms of his representation contract for an overseas agency.
