The process and how to apply

Applications for the 2024/25 Summer Clerkship Programme open on 11th March 2024 and close 5pm 31st March 2024. Applications are open to students in their 3rd or 4th year of law study.

Step 1 - Application: Fill in the SRB Summer Clerkship Application Form. Use this form to tell us about your academic background and any work experience you may have. Attach your academic transcript and CV. Email your application to vacancies@srblaw.co.nz before 5pm, 31st March 2024. There is no need to include a cover letter.

Step 2 - Video interviews: Shortlisted applicants will take part in a one-way video interview. We will ask you some questions about your application to understand your skills and experience and you respond via video link.

Step 3 - Interviews (May 2024): If your application is selected you will be asked for an interview. This will be structured similar to a real-life business scenario with questions and discussion, with the opportunity for you to ask questions. You will be asked to describe your skills and experience so we can understand how you will fit the requirements of the job.

Step 4 - Online testing: Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete an online test.

Step 5 - Reference checks: With your permission our People Team will conduct reference checks for the preferred candidates.

Step 6 - Offers made (late May 2024): All candidates will be notified if they have been accepted onto the SRB Summer Clerkship Programme or not. We will get back to you as soon as we can after the interview but don't be concerned if it's a few days before you hear from us.

The 2024/25 programme will run from mid-November 2024 – mid-February 2025.
