John Summers

He assists clients with the creation and structuring of trusts and also prepares wills and powers of attorney. He has considerable experience in the administration of estates and assisting clients with succession planning.

John has worked in the legal profession since 1995, with experience working for large and mid-size law firms. He led the Estates practice for a firm in Dunedin for a number of years and is an Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.

Prior to working in the legal industry, John worked in the banking and investment professions.

Notable experience

• Preparing wills and powers of attorney on behalf of clients (including enduring powers of attorney).

• Assisting clients with the administration of estates.

• Liaising with other professionals, such as accountants, valuers and financial planners, as part of the succession planning, estate administration process and assisting with and implementing financial plans on advice from financial planning professionals.
