Jonathan is the Managing Partner at Saunders Robinson Brown and a member of the Commercial Team.
Jonathan has extensive experience in commercial property acquisitions & disposals and retail leasing, investment in New Zealand, commercial contracts, rural property and trusts. He acts for a number of leading commercial property developers, investors and corporate entities.
Jonathan graduated in 1987 with a LLB from the University of Canterbury.
He joined the law firm of Wynn Williams in 2000, becoming a Partner in 2002 in the Commercial Property & Projects Team, and a board member.
In mid-2019 Jonathan joined Saunders Robinson Brown as a Partner, and became Managing Partner in mid-2021.
Jonathan has extensive experience in law firm governance and management, and was a board member and latterly Chair of Law Link for 9 years.
Notable experience
Advising the owners/developers during the acquisition, planning and construction of Spark Square (Christchurch) and Invercargill Central Developments.
Assisting Invercargill Central Ltd (landlord) with lease documentation and negotiating lease terms for each tenancy.
Provide ongoing advice to Mountain Warehouse (tenant) on role out of retail stores across New Zealand.
Preparation of leasing documentation and assisting in negotiation of leasing terms with tenants for various high profile sites in Christchurch, Queenstown and Invercargill.
Acting for overseas investors on obtaining permanent residency in New Zealand and acquiring farm properties.
