Authors
Are your employment agreements up to date?
The much mooted Employment Relations Amendment Act 2018 came into force on 12 December 2018.
If you have not already updated your employment agreements, you still have time before 6 May 2019 when the last changes come into effect.
From 6 May 2019 it will be mandatory to provide your employees with rest and meal breaks at set times. If you employ 20 or more employees you will no longer be able to rely on 90 day trial provisions. On 1 April 2019 new provisions for Domestic Violence leave came into force. If an employee has been affected by domestic violence, they may be entitled to up to 10 days paid domestic violence leave.
Finally, on 1 April 2019 the minimum wage increased to $17.70 per hour.
