Amelia is a Special Counsel in the Property and Commercial teams at Saunders Robinson Brown.

Amelia has extensive experience in commercial and property law.  She has created and nurtured lasting client relationships throughout her legal career by providing exceptional service and support to her valued clients.

Amelia provides legal advice in all aspects of commercial law including structuring business entities, business sales and purchases, financing (acting for both lenders and borrowers), manufacturing and distribution agreements, intellectual property and business and trade contracts.  Working in a large construction company has given Amelia a unique insight into business issues.

Amelia has specialist expertise in large subdivisions, from the initial planning stages through to the issue of titles and subsequent sales, as well as general property experience such as agreements for sale and purchase and leases for both commercial and private clients.

Amelia was admitted to the Bar in 1995 after completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (French and History) at Canterbury University.  She worked in Rangiora for a year before joining Saunders & Co in Christchurch, where she worked for fifteen years, ten as a Partner of the firm.  Following the Christchurch earthquakes, Amelia spent three years working through the rebuild as Legal Counsel at Golden Homes Christchurch.  She was granted a Notary Public Faculty in 2017 and assists notarial applicants by verifying identity and witnessing documentation for use in overseas jurisdictions.  Amelia has returned to private practice in 2024 and is enjoying reconnecting with clients as part of the SRB Team.

Notable Experience:

  • Acting for developers and private individuals in residential and commercial subdivisions including cross lease titles, unit title developments, complex boundary adjustments involving multiple parties through to large scale commercial retail developments and subdivisions involving hundreds of sections, complicated easements and detailed covenants.

  • Advising developers on all aspects of their developments including structure, financing, leasing, sales, regulations and land titles requirements.

  • Providing advice on and working through applications for title on grounds of possession.

  • Assisting with due diligence on, and the completion of, business sales and purchases from small manufacturing, hospitality and retail companies through to one of Christchurch’s prominent tourist attractions, as well as a well-known Canterbury ski field.

  • Acting for first and second tier lenders in the drafting of loan documentation and registration of securities involving multi-million-dollar transactions for commercial borrowers.
