Nick Strettell

Nick has particular expertise in company law, advising clients in respect of shareholder disputes, drafting and implementing shareholder agreements, share sales and restructures and company succession.  He has also acted on a number of large business sale and purchases for both vendors and purchasers.  

Additionally, Nick has an extensive property background both in commercial and rural law, acting for a number of commercial property developers and advising on medium to large scale commercial developments and subdivisions, commercial and farm sale and purchases.

Nick also has a particular interest in sports law and has advised sporting organisations on their constitutions and structuring.

Nick graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2010 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology).

He joined Saunders Robinson Brown as a solicitor in April 2011, was appointed a Partner in October 2018, and head of the Commercial Team in 2021.

Notable experience

• Advising a NZ subsidiary as part of a sale of its parent company's assets to a US Company for $100m+.
  

• Acting on a number of multi million dollar business sales, shareholder disputes and company restructures.
  

• Acting for vendors and purchasers on a number of large dairy farm sales within the South Island.
  

• Advising various landowners on the rights under the Public Works Act 1981.
  

• Assisting the Canterbury Cricket Trust with its development of Hagley Oval into a world class cricket venue.
  

• Acting for a number of sporting organisations and providing them with governance and constitutional advice.
