Lawset launches
Today the launch of Lawset was announced – a newly formed association of New Zealand law firms.
The group (of an initial 7 firms from around the country representing around 800 law firm staff) has formed with the goal of becoming a premier legal association of medium sized law firms in New Zealand. Lawset’s values focus on innovation, progression and a commitment to excellence.
Lawset Chair, Jonathan Gillard says of the launch “It is fantastic to have the Lawset launch official – and exciting to be establishing a high calibre, collegial group of firms with like-minded values, and most importantly a focus on innovation and progression”.
Gillard explains the main advantages for firms in joining Lawset centre around enhancing business processes through shared knowledge and experiences with other member firms (systems, people and culture, professional development and networking), benchmarking, sharing legal expertise and financial benefits – for member firms, their staff and clients.
Group buying power will provide access to specially negotiated PI, banking and library packages as well as cost savings in other areas such as office and software products.
Gillard points out an important focus for Lawset is around collaboration between member firms to lift the overall success of the group and maximise future opportunities. A variety of member events are planned for the future.
Firms from around New Zealand make up the founding members of the group, including: Tompkins Wake, Cooney Lees Morgan, Govett Quilliam, Carlile Dowling, Saunders Robinson Brown, Todd & Walker and Gallaway Cook Allan.
The Board of Lawset comprises: Jonathan Gillard (Saunders Robinson Brown, Chair), Alice Tocher (Govett Quilliam), Jon Calder (Tompkins Wake) and Paul Tustin (Cooney Lees Morgan).
