Retirement Of Geoffrey Saunders
On the 31st of March 2018, Saunders Robinson Brown’s long serving and founding partner, Geoffrey (Geoff) Saunders, retired from legal practice.
Geoff joined his father’s firm of Saunders & Co in 1976 as a full time staff solicitor. He had already spent time in the firm as a law clerk during school and university holidays.
Geoff progressed into partnership and eventually as managing partner of the firm, until his retirement from that practice in July 1998.
Geoff then formed his own boutique commercial law firm, Geoff Saunders & Associates, but his popularity and recognised expertise in commercial law, soon saw that firm blossom into a successful sole practice. The merging of practices from Lee Robinson of Christchurch and William Brown of Rangiora, and the addition of talented young solicitors and support staff, saw the firm sustain a strong period of growth, through the early part of the millennium to the present day.
Geoff was a founding partner of Saunders Robinson Brown. He has been an integral part of the firm’s development and progress, and leaves a strong platform for the future success of the firm.
In his retirement, Geoff will be spending time in Australia with his children and grandchildren, and concentrating on more golf to maintain his very low golf handicap, that has always been a trademark of his recreational time.
Geoff’s contribution to Saunders Robinson Brown has been immense. He is renowned for his insight, his lateral thinking in all aspects of his legal practice, his personal relationships with his clients and the provision of wise counsel for their benefit.
Geoff Saunders will continue as a non-practising Consultant and we look forward to his continued contribution to the firm and his clients.
